The project was full upgrading of TWO critical overhead cranes that are located in RPP STG-II in the machine hall area. The main challenge in this job was the special design requirements. It was required to implement a stable redundant automation solution with strong VFD setup and remote-control units for operation under very high temperature (70 Deg.) in a hazardous area with ZERO risk of mis-operation. We’re really so proud to execute the job perfectly and these cranes still running over years without any failure.

The project was another story of success provided by CESCO. Our multi-discipline engineering team applied a critical design change and modification for GAS turbine electrical-control system by replacing the standard traditional battery charging system for GE gas turbines in power generation machine hall for EIGHT units with new modern digital system and apply all required modifications to return these eight-expensive units to life again. We proofed that it could works and still works in very stable mode till the moment.

An old control system with discontinued PLC systems was implemented and installed in rigid-rusted steel panel under direct sun and close to sea side. CESCO engineers, as usual, jumped over normal designers thinking methods and modify the complete SOOT blowers control unit for RPP STG-III units and installed a stainless-steel panel with RTU units in the driving area to eliminate cable re-routing. However, the main brain is transferred to more secured and ait conditioned place with redundant CPU and additional HMI for monitoring. Communication was applied through Profibus network. Lot of restrictions was applied to secure the network in this hazardous area. The new solution was based on OMRON CS1D redundant PLC system.

Supply, Replacement, Testing & Commissioning of New Branded Distribution Panel 39BLB in LCR GT-08 at Rabigh Power Plant.

The main challenge which we faced in this project was the immediate response and action in dealing with critical situations and deliver the required solution complying with the client specifications and solve all troubles / problems in addition to provide all required replacements professionally as fast as accurate as well. The supplied system was complete swapping from ABB to Schneider solution.
With approximate non-changes in the old piping construction system, we replaced ONE -large-size-industrial UPS system which becomes a part of FOUR redundant units and operated perfectly. We faced another challenge during installation. It was a mal-function of the UPS unit it self due to long time storing under un-suitable weathering conditions. The project completion could be delayed for long time until getting the OEM expert to site from USA. Project execution cost also could be affected. However, CESCO professional engineers deal with the problem on the power-electronic level and solve it as well. Heavy and strongly testing procedures was followed for acceptance from SEC experts with its contracting and engineering teams.
